A new plant-based system for the mass production of allergens for immunotherapy

(University of Tsukuba) Researchers from the University of Tsukuba developed a novel system for the mass production of allergens. Using a plant-based protein expression system, they showed how large amounts of immunogenic birch pollen allergen can be produced in just a few days. These findings could improve immunotherapy for patients with environmental allergies.
